Google Developer Night 2007에 다녀왔습니다.

실제로 개발을 했던 행사는 아니었구요. 개발자 말고도 기획자나 기타 Web2.0, Google에 관심 있는 분들도 많이 참여 했던 행사였던 것 같습니다. 특히 구글 부사장이며 인터넷의 아버지라 불리는 Vint Cerf를 뵙기 위해 온 사람들도 많았습니다.
다행히 저같이 영어 울렁증이 있는 사람들을 위해 동시 통역을 제공해주었습니다. 하지만 두가지 언어를 동시에 듣는건 역시 힘들더군요.
여하튼 Sophia Brueckner의 Google Gadgets API 세션을 가장 관심있게 봤습니다. 사실 위자드웍스에서 근무한지는 오래되지 않았지만 나름 wzdAPI에 대해 고민되는 사항들이 많았거든요. 하지만 자세한 내용 보다 iGoogle에 대한 소개와 API의 간단한 예제를 보여준 정도였습니다. 실망한게 사실이지만 설계나 기술적인 사항들을 다루기에는 이번 행사의 취지(?)와는 먼 것도 사실이었습니다.
그리고 Chris Atenasio의 Google Maps API 세션도 재미있었습니다. 활용할 수 있는 방법도 간단하지만 유용한 예제들을 많이 소개해 주었습니다. Maps API를 보면서 상당히 직관적으로 API를 잘 만들었다는 생각이 들더군요. 물론 개인적인 생각으로...
마지막으로 Zaheda Bhorat의 Web2.0과 Open Source에 대한 세션도 들었습니다. 지금까지 Web2.0에 대한 이야기를 많이 들었지만 아직 개념이 확실하게 서지 않았는데 PT중에

이 있었습니다. 사실 정확한 내용은 기억나지 않고 wiki에서 찾은 내용입니다만 대충 저런 내용의 것이었답니다. 지금까지 들어본 문장 중에 가장 명확하게 설명해 놓은 문장이 아닐까 라는 생각을 해봅니다.
아참. Vint Cerf 박사님의 세션은 서명덕 기자님의 글이 충분히 자세하기 때문에 생략(?)합니다. 사실 어디서부터 얘기를 꺼내야 할지도 모르겠구요.
