구글이 한국에서 성공하려면..
Posted 2007/04/26 23:37, Filed under: IT, Web그동안 블로거들이나 기타 매체를 통해 이미 일반인들에게 구글이 많이 홍보되었다고 생각됩니다. 하지만 구글을 주로 이용하는 사람들은 속칭 컴퓨터를 좀 아는 사람들. 다시말해 컴퓨터 업계에 종사하거나 공부하는 사람들이라고 생각됩니다. (전적으로 개인적인 견해입니다.)
따라서 우리나라에서의 검색 유입율을 높이기 위해서는
- 구글 자체에서 제공하는 컨텐츠를 다양화 해야합니다.
구글의 검색 능력은 기존의 국내 검색 사이트보다 우수하다고 생각합니다. 하지만 검색 결과에 대한 정확성 만으로는 일반인들의 사이트 접속율을 높일 수 없다고 봅니다. 검색을 목적으로하는 사이트 접속도 중요하지만 흔히 말하는 시간을 보내기 위한 접속을 무시할 수 없습니다. 물론 구글에서 제공하는 Calendar, Note, RSS Reader 등의 기능이 훌륭하기는 하지만 구글 로고와 텍스트박스와 같이 검색을 위한 것을 제외하고는 별다른 것을 찾아보기 힘듭니다. 다시 말해 일반인들이 실제로 필요로 하는 컨텐츠를 제공해야합니다.
- 디자인을 한국인 정서에 맞게 수정해야합니다.
물론 구글 사이트의 단순함과 간결함이 검색 결과를 더 돋보이게 하고 구글만의 특성이라 할 수 있겠습니다. 하지만 이러한 구글의 디자인은 일반인들에게는 썰렁하고 먼가 덜 만들어진 듯한 느낌을 줄 수 있다고 생각합니다. 체리필터님의 글에서 처럼 일반인들에게는 그냥 이쁘고 좋은 것이 좋은 것입니다. "트래픽을 줄이기 위한 디자인", "텍스트 위주의 깔끔한 디자인" 등은 우리나라의 빠른 인터넷 속도와 컴퓨터 속도, 그리고 보통의 정서에는 맞지 않다고 생각합니다.
물론 구글이 추구하는 마인드라든지 영업방식에 대해 잘 모르기 때문에 하는 얘기입니다. 하지만 일단 지금까지 구글이 해왔던 방식으로는 우리나라에서는 성공하기 힘들 것이라 생각합니다. 한국에 구글코리아를 만들고 그에 필요한 인재들을 뽑는 것들은 아마도 이러한 사실을 알고 무언가 다른 모습을 보여주기 위한 노력이 아닐까요.
